Why learn Ukrainian?

Ukrainian is the official language of Ukraine, a country in Eastern Europe known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse landscape and abundance of natural resources.

Let me give you some reasons to learn Ukrainian:

  • By learning Ukrainian, you will improve communication with people. By learning Ukrainian, you will be able to communicate with approximately 42 million people in Ukraine who speak this language. Since the beginning of 2022, many people have moved to other countries in Europe due to the war between Ukraine and Russia, so it is very likely that you will soon meet a Ukrainian and you will need to know the language to communicate with them.
  • By learning Ukrainian, you will improve your cultural understanding and learn about the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Ukraine, which has a long history dating back to the 9th century.
  • By learning Ukrainian, you will improve the possibilities of international business with Ukraine. If you are interested in working or studying in Ukraine or doing business with Ukrainians, knowing Ukrainian can be an advantage that will allow you to be more competitive in the labor market.
  • By learning Ukrainian, you will improve your cognitive, thinking skills. Studies have shown that learning a second language can have a positive effect on cognitive skills such as problem solving, memory and critical thinking.
  • Ukrainian is not similar to Russian in any way, but knowing Ukrainian will help you if you are interested in Polish, for example, as it shares 70% of vocabulary and grammar rules with it.
