Prešeren Day, celebrated by Slovenians on the 8th of February is dedicated to the Slovenian poet France Prešeren. France Prešeren (1800–1849) was the most significant Slovenian poet, renowned for his love poetry, particularly expressed in works like the poetry collection "Sonnets of Unhappiness." His most famous poem is "Zdravljica," which later became the Slovenian national anthem.
Prešeren left an indelible mark on Slovenian literature with his distinctive language, profound thoughts, and sensuality, earning him the status of a cultural hero and a central figure in the Slovenian cultural landscape.
