April 18 - Velikonočni ponedeljek (Easter Monday)

Easter Monday is a very important holiday in Slovenia. It is a work free day when we gather with all the family. On this day, we go to the church and eat a lot of food. The preparation of food (especially potica and Easter eggs) starts few days before. The whole family gathers in the kitchen and prepares food together. On Easter Monday, we prepare a basket (sln. košarica) covered with little napkin with good food. In the basket you will find a home-made bread (sln. kruh), Easter eggs (sln. pirhi), horseradish (sln. hren), potica, ham (sln. šunka) and some other good food. After the ceremonies, we go to our relatives and eat together. The whole day is about spending time with our loved ones. This is really something you need to be a part of when in Slovenia.

April 23 - svetovni dan knjige in avtorskih pravic (International Book and Copyright Day)

If you are a bookworm, then this day is made just for you. The day is dedicated to the promotion of reading, publishing and the protection of copyright and intellectual property. At the same time, the goal is to encourage young generations, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain respect for the contribution of those who have contributed to social and cultural progress through their work. We are celebrating International Book and Copyright day all week. Check the Slovenian language publishing House Edita here.
